Dumortierite

Dumortierite is a very rare aluminosilicate mineral that exists in the form of massive, small prismatic crystals or fibrous inclusions in quartz. 

Colour   

Its color is usually dark blue or navy blue, but it can also be green, brown, violet, or even light pink. 

Naming 

This crystal was discovered by F. Gonnard in Chaponoste, France in 1881, and was named after the famous French paleontologist E. Dumortier. 

Origin 

Dumortierite is usually found in countries such as Austria, Brazil, Madagascar, Namibia, Canada, Russia, Sri Lanka and the United States 

Uses and maintenance 

Dumortierite is not only used to make jewelry, but also for a variety of industrial purposes. Used to make ceramics and porcelain, because it will turn pure white when exposed to fire or heat.
