Seraphinite is a species in the chlorite family, called "plain chlorite", also known as mica chlorite crystal. It is mainly produced in the Bikar Lake region of Siberia, Russia.

Seraphinite was discovered in the Sherry River Basin of the former Soviet Union in 1978. It was named "Seraphinite" because of its similarity to "Charoite" (Chaluoite) in terms of origin, shape and structure.
